By the end of this tutorial, you’ll learn the following:

  1. How to draw a cute kawaii coffee mug
  2. How to color the kawaii coffee cup

Before we dive in, please note that I’ll be using Procreate for this digital drawing. However, you can employ other software like Clip Studio Paint, a popular choice among digital artists, including Manga and Anime artists. To learn more about how I got started with digital art, click here.

The beauty of this drawing process is that you can use any tools you prefer. Whether it’s color pencils, pens, or crayons, the steps remain the same. So let’s get started!

Step 1: Drawing the Cute Kawaii Coffee Mug

To begin, let’s sketch the shape of the coffee cup. Start by drawing a large U shape, forming the body of the mug. Next, add a semi-circle on top of the U shape to create the cup’s opening. Then, draw the rim of the mug by adding a large oval shape in the center. Our mug is almost complete.

Now, let’s add some coffee inside. Draw a liquid shape within the mug to represent the coffee. Finally, draw the handle of the mug by sketching two concentric C shapes on one side. This adorable handle will complete our coffee cup. If you want to take it a step further, you can add two small eyes and a mouth to make it even more kawaii.

Step 2: Coloring the Kawaii Coffee Cup

When it comes to coloring your coffee cup, feel free to choose any color you desire. For instance, I’m going with cream because I adore the color, and it complements the coffee shade nicely. Remember, a coffee cup can be any color you fancy. You can even get creative by adding unique designs and patterns.

Next, color the inside of the coffee mug with a slightly darker shade compared to the outer part. Then, use a dark brown color to represent the coffee itself. To give the cup an extra touch of cuteness, add two peach-colored blush spots under the eyes.

Voilà! Now we have an incredibly adorable kawaii coffee cup. You can leave it as it is or enhance it further by adding highlights. If you’re drawing this coffee cup traditionally, a white gel pen would work perfectly for creating the highlights.

That’s it! You’ve successfully learned how to draw and color a delightful coffee cup.
