Drawing Guitar in 9 Easy Steps

A guitar is a musical instrument with strings that can be played by plucking or strumming. This guide will walk you through the process of drawing an acoustic guitar in nine easy steps. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned artist, you’ll find these instructions simple to follow. Plus, you can add your own personal style and creativity along the way.

Let’s Get Started!

Step 1: Draw the Headstock

Guitar Drawing - Step 1

Begin by drawing the outline of the headstock, which is the top part of the guitar where the tuning pegs are located. Position the outline in the middle of your paper by using horizontal and vertical reference lines.

Step 2: Outline the Headstock and Neck

Extend two long vertical lines from the bottom of the headstock to create the neck of the guitar. Leave a gap between the lines for the strings.

Step 3: Draw the Sound Hole

Create a perfect circle at the bottom of the neck to represent the sound hole of the guitar. If you can’t draw a perfect circle freehand, feel free to use a compass.

Step 4: Complete the Guitar Body

Draw the body of the guitar, starting from the neck and extending past the sound hole. The body should have an upper bout, a waist in the middle, and a lower bout, which is the widest part of the guitar’s body.

Step 5: Add the Bridge

Draw the bridge below the sound hole by creating a horizontal rectangular shape connected to a smaller rectangular shape beneath it. Make sure the bridge is positioned in the middle between the sound hole and the edge of the body.

Step 6: Draw the Left Tuning Pegs

On the left side of the headstock, draw three small circle shapes to represent the tuning pegs. Connect the pegs to the headstock with short horizontal lines.
