How To Draw Pants – A Step by Step Guide
As individuals, we may have our differences, but there’s one thing we all have in common: wearing pants. Pants come in various styles, shapes, and sizes, catering to different tastes and fashion preferences. In this step-by-step guide, we’ll show you how to unleash your creativity and draw your perfect pair of pants.
Let’s Get Started!
Step 1 – Drawing the Pants’ Opening
We’ll start by drawing a pair of jeans, one of the most popular types of pants worldwide. Begin by sketching the center of the pants using two thin, rectangular shapes connected to each other. Leave open spaces on the outer edges and draw long, thin shapes on either side to form the rim of the pants. Add rounded lines for the pocket tops and a final line for the back of the pants’ top.
Step 2 – Adding Details to the Opening
In this step, we’ll build upon what we drew previously. Fill in the empty spaces with curved lines to create the belt loops. Next, draw the fly by using more curved lines to form the thin shape. Lastly, draw a button for the top of the pants’ opening.
Step 3 – Adding the Sides of the Pants
Focus on the sides of the pants in this step. Use slightly bumpy lines to create the sides. Extend some straight lines into the interior of the pants to depict crease lines. Leave the bottom of the legs blank for now.
Step 4 – Completing the Pant Outline
Finish off the pant outline by filling in the bottom of the pant legs. Add the last flat section of the legs and extend more crease lines into the interior of the pants. Pay attention to the final details.
Step 5 – Final Touches
Before coloring your drawing, add small yet effective details to make the pants look more realistic. Draw small straight lines and dots to create the pocket on the left-hand side. Add additional crease lines throughout the pants to enhance the overall look. Feel free to add your personal touch or modify the style of the pants.
Step 6 – Adding Color
Finish your pants drawing by coloring it in. Traditionally, jeans are depicted with shades of blue, but don’t limit yourself. Use colors that resonate with you to create a unique pants design. Experiment with different art mediums and express your creativity through colors.
Three Additional Tips for an Easier Drawing Experience
Drawing pants, especially jeans, can be tricky due to the fabric’s creases. However, these details can be omitted if you prefer a more cartoonish look. Alternatively, drawing someone wearing the pants can help hide challenging parts. You can also use real pants as a reference or search for pictures online to aid in capturing the shape and finer details. Get creative and explore different poses and positions for the pants.
