Start Drawing Ariel Step by Step

Now, let’s dive into the step-by-step process of drawing Ariel. Grab your pencil, paper, and let your creativity flow. Follow the instructions below, and remember to refer to the accompanying images for a clear visual reference.

Step 1: Head and Shoulders

Begin by drawing an egg shape that points downwards in the middle of your page. This will be the basic shape for Ariel’s head. Add two curved, wavy lines starting from the bottom of the egg shape to create her neck and shoulders.

Step 2: Facial Guidelines

Next, draw two intersecting lines across the egg shape – one vertical and one horizontal. These lines should follow the contour of Ariel’s head. Add two smaller lines between the horizontal line and the bottom of the egg shape to serve as construction lines for her facial features.

Step 3: Eyes and Facial Proportions

On top of the horizontal construction line and on either side of the vertical construction line, draw two circles with flat bottoms for Ariel’s eyes. The circle on the left should be smaller to account for perspective and should graze the vertical construction line.

Step 4: Nose and Mouth

Draw a curved line between the main horizontal construction line and the top of the two smaller lines to create Ariel’s nose. Below the nose, sketch her mouth, which resembles a letter “D” on its side.

To bring Ariel’s flowing hair to life, draw a long curved line starting from the right side of her head, moving left across her forehead, and continuing outside the left side of her head. Make the line go around the top of her head and then curve it down the right side of her face, ending on top of her right shoulder. For the left side of Ariel’s hair, draw a simple curved line from the bottom of her hair to the top of her left shoulder.
