Orange Drawing
If you’re craving nature’s perfect source of vitamin C, why not try drawing an orange instead? In this quick and easy tutorial, I’ll guide you through the process of creating your own orange masterpiece. So grab your supplies and let’s get started!
Orange Drawing Supplies
Before we begin, gather the following supplies:
- Paper
- Pencil
- Eraser
- Black pen
- Circle to trace (e.g., jar lid, top of a mug or cup)
- Markers
- Ruler
Step 1: Trace the Orange Shape
Start by placing the object you’ll use to trace the circle in the center of your paper. Carefully trace around it with your pencil to create the outline of the orange. Next, move the object slightly to the right and trace only the bottom half of the circle. Finally, connect the sides of the half circle with a straight line using your ruler.
Step 2: Draw the Orange Peel
Using the same tracing object, move a bit inward from the left side of the orange and trace a shallower section of the circle. Stop tracing when you reach the right side line. For the last curved line, draw a parallel line that connects with the top of the orange segment.
Step 3: Refine the Outline
Erase all the lines in the background, leaving only the orange segment and part of the whole orange that’s not covered by the segment. Locate the middle of the top line of the orange segment and draw a dot there. Use your ruler to draw four straight lines, equally spaced, from the dot to the first curved line.
Step 4: Connect the Segments
Erase the dot and a little bit of the lines. Connect the individual orange segments with curving lines, and erase any extra lines that aren’t part of the final drawing.
Step 5: Add the Stem and Leaf
To complete the drawing, add a stem and leaf to the top of the orange. The stem should tilt up at an angle, while the leaf rests on the orange, covering up a portion of it. Erase any lines that are covered by the leaf.
Step 6: Outline the Drawing
Grab your black pen and carefully trace over all the pencil lines to make them stand out.
Step 7: Color Your Orange
Finally, use markers or crayons to color the entire orange. You can even add dots to create texture and make your drawing more realistic. And just like that, you’ve created an amazing orange drawing!
