Shivapath and Shivram Sahu are 12-year-old conjoined twins from India. They were born joined at the waist, sharing two legs and four arms. While it would be possible to separate them through surgery, the twins have expressed their desire to remain together.

Despite their physical condition, the twins have amazed doctors with their ability to perform everyday tasks such as washing, dressing, and feeding themselves.

They have adapted to their unique situation and can even play cricket and other games with neighboring children, using all six of their limbs. Shivapath and Shivram excel academically and are considered top students at their local school.

Their father, Raj Kumar, who is married to Srimati and has five daughters, is protective of his twin sons and refuses to allow them to be separated, even if the operation were possible.

He believes that they were born this way for a reason and that they will remain together. Despite the challenges they face, the family supports the twins’ decision to stay conjoined.

While doctors believe it is technically possible to separate the twins, the operation would have severe consequences, especially for Shivapath. If separated, Shivram could lead a more normal life, but Shivapath would be left with no legs and would require full-time care.

The operation would also be expensive and require long-term physical and psychological rehabilitation.

The twins appear bright and well-adjusted, and they have two different brains, hearts, and lungs. Dr. Krishan Chugh, head of pediatrics at the Fortis Memorial Research Institute, believes that they can continue to live physically and mentally fulfilling lives as they are.

He suggests that in the future, their desire to remain conjoined may change as they see others living independently as individuals.

Shivapath and Shivram’s story is similar to that of famous conjoined twins, Ganga and Jamuna Mondal from West Bengal, India, who made a living performing as “The Spider Sisters” in the Dreamland Circus. They earned £26 per night and were both married to a carnival worker named Gadadhar.
