Steiner opined that Verstappen always knew he would win despite the struggles. Max Verstappen‘s performance in Brazil severely impacted Lando Norris’s title hopes. The Briton was looking strong all over the weekend where he even secured pole position to start the race.

However, he finished sixth in the race, which Verstappen won by 20 seconds. Gunther Steiner stated that regardless of one’s personal opinion about Verstappen, his drive in Brazil deserves respect. The 59-year-old stated that everything changed for the Dutchman when he passed Esteban Ocon on lap 44.

When Max took control of the race when he overtook Ocon and just went, there was nothing anymore for anybody, showing who he is. I’m going to win the championship, In that moment, he knew he was going to win the world championship, you know. Gunther Steiner said (via GPblog.
