Lewis Hamilton‘s move to Ferrari after ditching Mercedes still remains highly debated. The seven-time world champion shocked the entire world after deeming a move to Ferrari. Hamilton didn’t reveal the exact reason or his plans regarding the move.
However, the author of Mercedes’s new book Matt Whyman revealed the underlying reason behind the shocking switch. Retiring from Formula 1 as a Ferrari driver is a massive feat that a majority of the drivers dream about. Lewis Hamilton received this opportunity and pounced on it.
Matt Whyman pointed out that Hamilton believed that every kid involved in motor racing dreams of racing with a Ferrari. Moreover, Hamilton didn’t want to retire from the sport and look back and question himself ‘what if’. I asked him directly what was going on and he just said, ‘It is every kid’s dream who gets involved in motor racing to race a Ferrari, and that is it – I did not want to get to the end of my career and look back and go, what if?
’Matt Whyman told Mirror Sport. Whyman further talked highly about Hamilton’s goals and ambitions following his exit from the sport. The Author reckoned that the Briton had clearly planned out his exit from Formula 1 after being satisfied with Ferrari.
Additionally, winning all the races with Brackley and participating with them for so long was very meaningful for the seven-time world champion. He says he knows when the end of his career will be. He has got this very clear plan ahead of him.
He said it is really meaningful to him, the fact that he has won all these races with Mercedes and he has been on this journey. The one thing he had not done and he just thought, ‘I do not want to walk away and go, I wish I had done that’. Matt Whyman noted.
