‘Devastated’ Lewis Hamilton wants accountability for Mercedes’ horrendous run in 2024

Lewis Hamilton‘s 2024 Brazilian Grand Prix turned out to be a race to forget. The seven-time world champion faced a nightmare weekend, battling a sluggish Mercedes car that lacked pace and balance. From a disappointing Sprint race to a lackluster main event, Hamilton’s weekend was filled with frustration and disappointment.

The Briton was seen leaving the event wishing for the season to come to an end. Lewis Hamilton‘s struggles began early in sprint qualifying where he failed to progress beyond SQ2 as he lacked pace and grip. Due to this, he was unable to compete with other drivers finishing in 11th in the Sprint race.

Sunday’s Grand Prix was equally challenging, he started from P14 on the grid and struggled to make significant progress, even getting overtaken by Max Verstappen who started from P17. The W15 continued to lack pace, limiting his overtaking opportunities which left the Briton devastated, admitting that the results weren’t acceptable. Hamilton stressed that he and the team must take responsibility for poor performances and commit to improving future results.

It’s devastating to have these bad races in the second half of the season. But all I can say is we’re trying, we’re coming into the weekend. But it’s definitely not acceptable, it’s definitely not good enough.

And we have to take accountability, I have to take accountability. The car has been the worst this weekend. I don’t know what it is, we’re going to have to find out what it is.

Lewis Hamilton said, as reported by GPblog. comLewis Hamilton openly admits he’s doing everything he can to get the most out of his car, but it simply isn’t competitive enough. The car’s issues have persisted all year, with his victories at Silverstone and Belgium being rare exceptions.

He emphasizes that the team must find solutions to improve its performance in the upcoming races.
