Max Verstappen and Lando Norris have been in close contest for the 2024 F1 world championship. The Dutch driver has faced stiff competition from Norris who has been closing the gap in recent races. However, Verstappen has reasserted himself with a stellar victory at Interlagos.
Norris seemed to have an edge on Verstappen after Qualifying as the 27-year-old had to start from seventeenth place. Things changed drastically in the Grand Prix as the three-time world champion made up seven positions within two laps. Max Verstappen was in a league of his own throughout the race, courtesy of a red flag.
The Dutch driver not only won the race but pulled off an enormous lead of 19 seconds to second-placed Esteban Ocon. On the other hand, Lando Norris had a dismal end to the weekend. Now, with three races to go, Verstappen almost has one hand on the drivers’ championship trophy.

As such, if the Red Bull driver has a clean weekend in Nevada, it would be all over for Lando Norris. Moreover, for Norris to stay in contention, he needs to take home 21 more points than Verstappen at all three races This would translate to Lando Norris winning all three races and hoping that the Dutch driver finishes in P8 or lower.
Such a string of results is essentially impossible considering Max Verstappen’s incredible pace in Sao Paulo. Lando Norris might have a shot if Verstappen has a DNF or two. But this might as well be wishful thinking for McLaren as doors appear to be closing on Norris’ title ambitions.
Perhaps, the Briton has already accepted his faith. Nevertheless, fans can expect to see the 24-year-old pushing himself to the limit in the final three races. RELATEDLando Norris snubs Max Verstappen to name ‘deserving’ winner of Brazilian GP
