Ahead of his retirement tour in 2025, John Cena sent the WWE Universe into a frenzy online. Cena took to his Instagram account to post a photo of Cody Rhodes as “American Stardust. ” Many assumed that The Cenation Leader teased a potential match against Rhodes.
However, it was seemingly just to troll the Undisputed WWE Champion. Hours after Cena posted his photo, Rhodes uploaded a picture of the 16-time World Champion visiting the Nightmare Factory School. Rhodes and AEW wrestler QT Marshall co-founded the wrestling school in 2020.
Recently, the Nightmare Factory was listed among the wrestling schools in partnership with the new WWE ID program. In fact, Rhodes alluded to Cena scouting talent from his school for the program. The American Nightmare has occasionally mentioned that he keeps in touch with the WWE legend.
Rhodes has followed in the footsteps of Cena, becoming the poster boy of the company. After the Peacemaker star announced his retirement at Money in the Bank, many felt that a match between the current and previous faces of the company needed to happen.
