To set the record straight on previous allegations of tardiness during MGM Studios’ Red One shoot, Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, sat down with Zack Baron of GQ Magazine. And by the way, Johnson’s been announced as this year’s first GQ Men of the Year cover star. Moreover, the NY-based publication has adjudged the Jumanji actor as their Entertainer of the Year as well.
Back to square one, Johnson, while speaking to GQ senior writer Baron, addressed the controversy that did all the talking earlier this year. The 52-year-old was accused of showing up late on shoot days of the Red One. The Wrap reported that Johnson’s frequent tardiness ballooned up the film’s budget to a whopping $250 million.
Dwayne shot it down, saying that figure is just bananas. However, he did admit to turning up late on the set, saying it happens. Red One’s director Jake Kasden and Johnson’s co-actor Chris Evans spoke highly of the part-time WWE star.
Evans said Dwayne works out early in the morning, after which he’d make it to the set, and that’s something everyone was aware of. Yeah, that happens too. But not that amount, by the way.
That was a bananas amount. That’s crazy. Ridiculous.
It’s bullsh*t. The Rock via GQ In another excerpt, The Rock commented on rumors of using bottles for peeing when he’s filming. The Great One agreed to it.
With that being said, Johnson and Co. are up for a big weekend in North America. This Friday, the holiday season action-adventure comedy Red One will hit theaters locally.
