Last week on SmackDown, Nick Aldis announced the arrival of the much-awaited Women’s United States Championship. It was a historic milestone for women’s wrestling that received praise from the wrestling community. Now, a huge backstage update has emerged that sheds light on the new women’s title.

According to Fightful Select, no talent had heard about the news of the Women’s United States Championship until the day it was announced. It was revealed that WWE kept it a secret surprise for all the women in the locker room. As a result, WWE announced it spontaneously on SmackDown last week.

Although it was a sudden announcement, many stars expressed their support over the next chapter of women’s wrestling. Stars like Bayley, Chelsea Green, and Michin all commended this move by WWE while voicing aspirations to become the first-ever champion.
