The 2024 US presidential elections have severely divided the world, especially the professional wrestling industry. Many wrestling personalities vouched for the candidates that they believed in. However, it appears that political opinions and support for Donald Trump had a serious impact on people by AEW and Tony Khan.
Jack Hager had penned down his political thoughts on X, calling Joe Biden a tyrant and favoring Donald Trump. A fan tagged Khan in the tweets’ replies and told the AEW CEO to check on his talent. The former World Heavyweight Champion replied to the fan and revealed that he was threatened by his former boss if he did not stop promoting the Republican candidate.
Furthermore, the 42-year-old called the AEW President a communist. All of these tweets by Jack Hager were later deleted without any explanation by him. This incident clearly dictates that the political culture in AEW is quite different from that of WWE.
The higher-ups and superstars at the Stamford-based promotion are generally said to be leaning towards the Republican side. The old regime did not hide this fact at all. Vince McMahon had a decades-long friendship with the President-elect, who has appeared on WWE programming numerous times.
Linda McMahon also served under the former POTUS during his presidency. Media channels even blamed the WWE Universe for electing Trump into the presidential office. Jake Hager called Tony Khan a communist because he wasn’t allowed to talk about Donald Trump.

QT Marshall (via AEW)Speaking on The Takedown on SI, Marshall said that he brought a lot of positive things to the table. He believed that he fit so well in AEW because he played a multitude of roles and enjoyed doing so. However, WWE was a huge system, and they would not require him as much.
Thus, he assured Tony Khan that he would never leave for the Stamford-based promotion. I remember telling Tony a long time ago when Cody first went to WWE, ‘I’m never going to leave AEW to go work in the office at WWE. I just won’t do it.
