Bill Goldberg has had a long and prestigious professional wrestling career spanning over 25 years. He was one of the pillars of WCW and eventually joined WWE in 2003 after a brief stint with AJPW. Now, at the age of 57, he has decided to end his career.
On the set of SEC Nation, Goldberg said that he wanted to be there for his family and relax. Thus, after speaking with WWE higher-ups such as Triple H and Nick Khan, he announced that he would be wrestling his last match ever in 2025. While he did not specify a date, this match will likely take place at WrestleMania 41.
During the same announcement, the WWE Hall of Famer pointed at Gunther on the screen and called him the frontrunner in his opponent list. Fans on social media suggested various names, such as Bron Breakker, for the former Universal Champion’s last match. However, the wrestler most likely to retire Goldberg is World Heavyweight Champion Gunther.
The Ring General has already interacted with the WCW legend. Furthermore, the Hall of Famer passing down the torch to the 37-year-old after his retirement would be a perfect choice. 🚨 BREAKING: @Goldberg just announced that his retirement match will take place NEXT YEAR!
