Xylitol can have catastrophic consequences for dogs, and Ruby bore the brunt of its effects. Within a mere 36 hours of ingesting the brownie, Ruby’s health took a sharp and terrifying decline, necessitating an urgent trip to the animal hospital.
The medical bills that followed were staggering, accumulating to an eye-watering $13,000. Ruby fought valiantly for her life for eight agonizing days, but, tragically, she succumbed to the illness.
