When Libby, a 5-year-old pit bull, arrived at The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County, she bore a massive growth on her front leg. However, her endearing nature won over the staff, and they dedicated themselves to her well-being.
Meeting Libby was an enchanting experience. Her sweet face and gentle eyes charmed the rescuers. But they couldn’t ignore the colossal mass on her shoulder. Their worst fears were realized when a medical examination and X-ray revealed that Libby had bone cancer.
The tumor, located in the bone of her upper right leg, had caused severe inflammation, resulting in her leg swelling to the size of a volleyball. The pain was excruciating, and she could barely move. The shelter documented this heart-wrenching story.
To save her life, amputating her leg was the only option. The compassionate community was deeply moved by her story and generously contributed to her treatment.
With the expertise of the medical team at Blue Pearl, her right leg and a 10-pound mass were successfully removed. During her recovery, she managed to touch the heart of one of the veterinary technicians who cared for her.
Recently, the shelter shared the remarkable news that Libby has found her forever home. The veterinary technician who witnessed Libby’s loving nature decided to adopt her, despite learning about her aggressive bone cancer diagnosis and the possibility that her time on Earth may be limited.
Wiggles, as she’s now known, has found a forever home where she will be loved and cared for by her new family. Despite the name change, Wiggles still lives up to her reputation as a joyful pup who loves spending time with her furry and human siblings.
One of her favorite pastimes is curling up on the couch with a cozy blanket for a nap. According to her new mom, Wiggles’ eyes reflect an innate desire for affection and security, which made it impossible to resist giving her the love and comfort she deserves.
