Former British Formula 1 driver Johnny Herbert is all praise for Red Bull’s Max Verstappen after the latter’s win at Interlagos. The 27-year-old leads the Drivers’ Championship and is the favorite to clinch his fourth consecutive title this year. Herbert has compared Verstappen to the likes of Brazilian legend Ayrton Senna and seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher. He believes that the Red Bull driver possesses the same talent and awareness as Senna and Schumacher.

It was brilliant to see what he did. It is showing that maturity is coming, and his sheer speed is unbelievable. The belief he has in himself is one the true greats have like Michael Schumacher and Ayrton Senna who said there were times when you had an out-of-body experience and everything was perfect.

From what I saw on Sunday that was one of those days for Max where he showed sheer brilliance. After the race, he stated that he wants to have clean races to close out the season and retain his title. Looking at it, it was incredibly important because in a way I was expecting to lose points.

So from now on, I just want clean races to the end [of the season]. I’m not thinking about clinching the championship in Vegas, or whatever. I just want clean races.
