Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, an upcoming American superhero film based on DC Comics, features the beloved character Aquaman. The film is being produced by DC Films, The Safran Company, and Atomic Monster Productions, with Warner Bros. Pictures set to distribute it.
Serving as a sequel to the 2018 film Aquaman, this installment will be the thirteenth film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). Directed by James Wan and written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, the movie stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry / Aquaman, alongside Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
During the production of the first film, Momoa proposed a storyline for the sequel, but Wan opted not to rush the project.
In January 2019, Wan agreed to oversee the development of the sequel, with Johnson-McGoldrick brought on board to pen the screenplay a month later.

In August 2020, Wan was officially announced as the director for the film. He stated that Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom would delve deeper into the world introduced in the first installment.
Wan unveiled the title for the sequel in June 2021, with filming kicking off later that month in London. Fans can anticipate the release of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom on December 16, 2022.
