George Russell optimistic about racing in his 40′ taking inspiration from Fernando Alonso’ ‘warrior’ mentality in F1

Mercedes driver George Russell has applauded two-time world champion Fernando Alonso for his longevity in Formula 1. Alonso made his debut at the pinnacle of motorsport in 2001 for Minardi and has been racing for over 20 years. Fernando Alonso is often regarded as one of the best drivers in the history of motorsport.

The Spaniard is set to start his 400th F1 race in Mexico this weekend. His spirit and skill are an inspiration to everyone across the paddock. George Russell has conveyed his immense respect towards Alonso’s work ethic and warrior mentality.

The 26-year-old seeks to race for as long as the Spaniard and wishes to gain better experience from the latter’s brilliance as well. Fernando is definitely a warrior. He has so much focus on himself and his body.

There’s no surprises to me that he’s able to keep on going at the age he is. The experience he’s gained is immense. And Fernando, Lewis as well, those guys give me the inspiration that I can definitely keep going into my 40s as well.
