“He reacted to the lights!” McLaren defends Lando Norris over his much-talked-about Brazilian GP botched start

McLaren team principal Andrea Stella has shared his thoughts on Lando Norris‘ reprimand at the Brazilian Grand Prix. Norris was penalized with a fine of €5,000 for leading the grid on an aborted start announcement. Lando Norris has had a fair share of controversies this season.

He has also been one of the most formidable drivers, securing three wins and 12 podiums. Norris finished P6 at Interlagos and was further reprimanded for starting the race without the lights turning green. Andrea Stella has since defended the 24-year-old who mistook the orange lights for the green ones during the aborted start.

Stella has also clarified that the confusion could have been averted by a few clear signals to Norris. So there are some technical details that could have made the situation a little confusing for Lando [Norris]. I think he just reacted to the lights.
