“I’m not his teacher,” Lando Norris refuses to discuss on-track clashes with Max Verstappen

Max Verstappen and Lando Norris‘ 2024 rivalry has intensified, turning their friendly relationship into a fierce battle for the championship. Currently Verstappen leads, but Norris is a strong contender. Their recent aggressive duels in Austin and Mexico have drawn criticism, especially towards the Dutchman.

Despite the tension, the Brit hasn’t yet discussed the incidents with his rival, adding another layer to their complex dynamic. Max Verstappen and Lando Norris have had tense moments on track, especially with the gap in their cars’ performance. In Mexico, the Dutchman pushed Norris off-track twice, leading to penalties.

The previous week, the Briton himself got a penalty for overtaking Verstappen while off-track. Now, Norris believes the 27-year-old is mainly focused on beating him, even if it costs him a better result. He shared that they haven’t talked about their clash yet, as he feels it’s unnecessary.

Meanwhile, both McLaren and Red Bull teams are already blaming each other, but the drivers seem unwilling to discuss it face-to-face. No, we’ve not spoken, I don’t think we need to. I’ve got nothing to say.

I still have a lot of respect for Max and everything he does – not respect for what he did last weekend – but respect for him as a person and also what he’s achieved. Lando Norris said, as reported by PlanetF1. comNorris wasn’t pleased with how Verstappen treated him in Mexico, but he still respects what the Red Bull driver has achieved in F1.

Keeping a respectful stance, the Briton made it clear he’s not in a position to advise the-three-time world champion on how to drive. Both are fighting for titles and are pushing hard to win the championship. The 24-year-old believes that the three-time world champion knows he made a mistake and is self-aware enough to make the necessary changes on his own.

But it’s not for me to speak to him. I’m not his teacher. I’m not his mentor or anything like that.

Max knows what he has to do. He knows that he did wrong. Deep down, he does, and it’s for him to change.

The 24-year-old refuses to let thoughts of revenge against the Dutchman distract him in his pursuit of the title. No, I’m very chilled and I’m very relaxed when I’m on track. For me, that’s what I need to perform by being relaxed and not thinking about these things.
