Scuderia Ferrari is historically the most successful team in Formula 1. However, the Prancing Horse is going through one of the biggest title draughts in its history. With the last championship triumph coming in 2008.
Now, it seems like Ferrari might finally clinch the F1 world championship again. Maranello has had a rollercoaster of a campaign in 2024. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz have won a handful of races.
Although, the Scuderia fell behind McLaren in the fight against Max Verstappen and Red Bull. With four races to go, Ferrari has managed to topple Red Bull from second place in the teams’ standings. A drivers’ title for third-placed Charles Leclerc might not be realistic.
However, it appears that Maranello could potentially defeat McLaren for the Constructors’ championship. In comparison, Max Verstappen leads Lando Norris by 47 points.
The last four races also include Sprint weekends that further provide an opportunity to the Italian team. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz (via Planetf1)The Prancing Horse has been the fastest team in the past couple of races as the team took back-to-back victories in Austin and Mexico. This has raised doubts over McLaren’s title lead.
As it seems that Ferrari has the pace to fend off the championship-leaders. Leclerc and Sainz must ensure that they remain consistent in the last four races and fight for victories. The Ferrari drivers do not have the same pressure as someone like Norris, who is battling tooth and nail against Verstappen.
This would allow Maranello to race more freely. Certainly, Ferrari will need to win more races than McLaren in the last four rounds to win the championship. However, this would be no easy feat as the Woking-based team will push itself to the limit in the coming races.
As such, it will be interesting to see if the Scuderia can finally end its long title draught in Formula 1. RELATEDWas the Mexican GP the final nail in the coffin for Sergio Perez’s F1 career?
