Legends Unite: Lil Wayne Reveals His Fantasy Collaborations With Music Icons

Lil Wayne, a trailblazing figure in hip-hop, has spent decades building a legacy defined by a diverse range of collaborations with music’s biggest stars. Yet, even after working with countless artists, there remain a few iconic names still on his wish list. In a recent interview on Not Just Football with Cam Heyward, the Grammy-winning rapper opened up about his ultimate dream collaborations, sharing a glimpse into the musical minds that continue to inspire him.

At the top of Wayne’s list is none other than the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson. Wayne expressed his deep admiration for Jackson, reflecting on how much he would have loved to collaborate with the late legend. “Michael Jackson,” Wayne stated simply, highlighting the undeniable impact Jackson had on shaping global pop culture. For Wayne, working with Jackson would have been a career-defining moment, combining his lyrical genius with Jackson’s extraordinary voice and showmanship.

But the list didn’t stop there. Wayne also expressed a desire to work with another musical titan, Prince. He spoke of Prince with the same reverence as Jackson, saying, “The second one would be … not even the second [but] 1A would be Prince. You already know that the other two.” The respect Wayne holds for Prince’s artistic brilliance and boundary-pushing creativity is evident, and fans can only imagine the magic a Lil Wayne-Prince collaboration could have sparked.

In paying homage to the legends of hip-hop, Wayne named two fallen icons who shaped the rap landscape: The Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur. “If we’re going to do rap, the other two have to be Biggie and ‘Pac, plain and simple,” Wayne declared. Both Biggie and Tupac left indelible marks on the genre, and Wayne’s desire to collaborate with them reflects the profound influence their music had on his own career.

While these dream collaborations with late legends remain out of reach, Lil Wayne hasn’t limited his aspirations to the past. He also spoke about his admiration for living artists, singling out Lauryn Hill as someone he would love to collaborate with. Known for her soul-stirring voice and poetic lyricism, Hill represents an ideal partner for a groundbreaking collaboration. Although they haven’t officially teamed up in the studio, Wayne did make a surprise appearance alongside Hill and the Fugees at their concert in Inglewood, California last year, performing his hit “A Milli”—a performance that left fans hoping for more.

Outside of these dream collaborations, Lil Wayne continues to mentor and inspire the next generation of artists. Recently, he teamed up with rising basketball star and rapper Flau’jae Johnson on her track “Came Out a Beast,” adding a powerful verse to her project Best of Both Worlds. Flau’jae, in an interview with Complex, described the experience as surreal, crediting Wayne with pushing her to new heights artistically.

With Lil Wayne’s enduring influence on music, fans can only wonder who he will work with next. His collaborations span genres and generations, and as he continues to evolve, the possibilities are limitless. Who would you like to see Wayne collaborate with in the future? Let us know!
