Lewis Hamilton ‘doesn’t care’ about defeating George Russell in the standings amidst miserable 2024 campaign

Lewis Hamilton‘s 2024 Brazilian Grand Prix turned out to be a race to forget. The seven-time world champion faced a nightmare weekend, battling a sluggish Mercedes car that lacked pace and balance. From a disappointing sprint race to a lackluster main event, Hamilton’s weekend was filled with frustration and disappointment.

The Briton was seen leaving the event wishing for the season to come to an end. Lewis Hamilton‘s Brazilian weekend was a disastrous one and ended with a disappointing P10 finish. His troubles began in the sprint qualifying, where he shockingly failed to progress beyond SQ2.

This left him 11th on the grid for the sprint race, where he finished outside the points. After a series of disappointing performances, Hamilton stated that just wants to wrap the season up and go with low expectations in the remaining races. I just put my focus on something else.

I’m not fighting for the championship, it doesn’t really matter where we finish in the championship. I don’t care if I finish ahead of George or behind George, it doesn’t make that big of a difference to me. I just want to keep the car out the wall and try to score points if I can for the team.

Lewis Hamilton told Motorsportsweek. comOn the other hand, Hamilton’s teammate George Russell had a more positive weekend. Despite facing similar challenges with the car’s performance, he managed to qualify second for the main race and then finished P4.
