Lewis Hamilton’s fairytale Mercedes journey has become a disaster

Lewis Hamilton will not be racing for Mercedes after the 2024 F1 season. The seven-time world champion decided to switch to Scuderia Ferrari for next year even before the start of the current campaign. Hamilton wanted to have a good ending with the Silver Arrows.

However, it seems that things have not gone as planned. The British driver was unhappy with Mercedes’ struggles in the ground-effect era. Lewis Hamilton went winless for the first time in his F1 career in 2022, and then again in 2023.

This undoubtedly played a role in his move to Ferrari. Nevertheless, Hamilton hoped to have a positive ending to his long journey with Mercedes. It seemed that this would be the case as the seven-time world champion took a ‘fairytale’ victory at Silverstone this year.

Unfortunately, the current situation at Brackley looks grim. Despite having two race victories, Lewis Hamilton has not been comfortable with the car.

The Briton has made repeated comments about having poor runs in Qualifying throughout the year. The 39-year-old gave a rather cryptic response on team radio of perhaps racing for Mercedes for the last time.

Although, the Silver Arrows did clarify these remarks afterward. The Mercedes star has mentioned that he is looking forward to his future with Ferrari. The Scuderia has shown promise throughout this year and is in a much better state than the Brackley-based team.

It is understandable that Lewis Hamilton now focuses completely on the 2025 season instead of trying to salvage a few results with the Silver Arrows. Lewis Hamilton has even been outscored by George Russell this season. Although, the 39-year-old is unbothered as he waits for the end of his 11-year-long Mercedes journey.

Certainly, this would be an emotional sight. Though it would not feel as much of a fairytale anymore. RELATEDLewis Hamilton reveals the mindset needed to be a seven-time F1 world champion
