Max Verstappen declares he’s not ‘secretly dreaming’ of racing for Ferrari unlike Lewis Hamilton

Ferrari holds a unique charm in F1, representing history, prestige, and a legacy of legendary drivers and victories. Every driver dreams of racing for Ferrari at some point in their career, regardless of age. However, Max Verstappen stands apart.

Unlike many others, he never saw Maranello as part of his future, choosing instead to focus on building his own legacy with Red Bull, where he has found immense success. Lewis Hamilton announced earlier this season that he’ll be racing for Ferrari from 2025 onwards and it was his childhood dream to compete in the iconic Red suit. Max Verstappen was asked whether he has a similar dream like the seven-time-world champion.

The Dutchman expressed admiration for Ferrari’s history and success in F1. However, he never planned to race for them, as his goals in F1 are different rather than switching to a popular team. The 27-year-old is currently contracted to Red Bull Racing until the end of 2028 and won’t consider leaving as he reckons they’re very competitive.

At the moment that is at Red Bull. But it’s not like I secretly dream of the red racing suit and the thought is constantly buzzing around in my head because I’m looking for a new challenge. Max Verstappen told BildMax Verstappen didn’t intend to criticize Ferrari, especially with his biggest rival, Lewis Hamilton, moving there next season.

He acknowledged that Ferrari is an incredible brand with a rich history and many achievements in F1. The Dutchman understands why the team appeals to many drivers. To him it made perfect sense for Hamilton to consider the prancing horse when the opportunity arose.

This move also means the seven-time-world champion will have a strong teammate alongside Charles Leclerc. This combination would make it difficult for Verstappen to battle against Hamilton, who will be in pursuit of his eighth world title. But of course, the Ferrari brand is incredible and it has achieved a lot in our sport.

It makes sense that Lewis took the opportunity when it came up. I don’t care. I want to beat every driver from every car. It doesn’t matter to me whether Lewis is in the red or silver car.
