Mets voice has had it with Juan Soto rumors: ‘Wake me up’ when he signs

Mets broadcaster Howie Rose is sick and tired of the constant Juan Soto free-agency rumors. After a weekend filled with speculation surrounding Soto’s meetings with the Yankees and the Mets, the Mets’ voice took to X/Twitter to air out just how much he doesn’t care — at least not until Soto actually signs somewhere. “Personally, I want to hear nothing about Juan Soto until he signs somewhere,” Rose wrote.

“No rumors. No speculation. No progress reports.

No mystery team. I take it all with a grain of salt. ”BUY METS TICKETS: STUBHUB, VIVID SEATS, TICKETMASTERSince free agency kicked into gear after a brief quiet period following the World Series, the Soto sweepstakes have dominated the baseball world.

So far, the 26-year-old slugger has met with the Red Sox, Yankees and Mets with meetings with the Dodgers, Phillies and Blue Jays still to come. A recent Twitter/X post by former Mets infielder Carlos Baerga had some wondering if Mets owner Steve Cohen offered the five-time Silver Slugger a $660 million deal. Jon Heyman of The New York Post refutes this, reporting that no financials were discussed.

“The Soto meetings this week… were getting acquainted sessions, especially for owners,” Heyman posted on X/Twitter. “No offers are believed to have been made at these get-togethers. ”The fun doesn’t stop there.

Yankees YES Network announcer Michael Kay claimed Cohen will bid $50 million more than the highest offer on his afternoon drive show on ESPN New York on Monday. Kay didn’t provide a source to back up this claim. It’s all enough to drive Rose — and most of the baseball world — mad.

“Wake me up when he has a new team,” Rose added. “Until then, serenity now. ”Thank you for relying on us to provide the journalism you can trust.
