Michael Schumacher is considered by many to be the greatest racing driver in history. The German’s historic run with Ferrari remains in the memory of millions of fans even today. Unfortunately, the 55-year-old’s son Mick Schumacher has failed to even come close to his legacy.
Mick Schumacher made his highly anticipated F1 debut in 2021 with Haas. However, the ex-F2 winner was sacked after two controversial seasons. Since then, the junior Schumacher has tried to return to the grid with a handful of teams.
Audi’s Sauber F1 team had the last available spot for the 2025 season. The German automaker decided to sign McLaren junior Gabriel Bortoleto instead of Mick Schumacher. With this move, it seems that Schumacher’s career prospects in F1 are over for good.

James Vowles grabbed the chance to sign Carlos Sainz with Schumacher losing out yet another opportunity. Haas could’ve been an option for the German driver under the American team’s new leadershop, yet it will be Oliver Bearman racing for the team next year. As such, Mick Schumacher has lost on multiple open seats for next year.
Despite his best efforts, the German has failed to convince any team for an F1 return. Mercedes and Alpine have praised his performances. But the two teams are reluctant to have him on the grid.
Thus, it would be better for Schumacher to give up entirely on his F1 dreams and fully focus on his Alpine Hypercar program.
