After winning a Premier League title, it’s only natural to pop open the champagne – but for the five-year-old son of Manchester City’s star midfielder Phil Foden, the cork proved a little too tricky.
Photographers captured the moment youngster Ronnie Foden tried – thankfully without success – to join in with the celebrations after Manchester City won an unprecedented fourth Premier League title in a row on Sunday.

The Sky Blues leapt to victory after sweeping aside West Ham in a 3-1 win. Scenes of jubilation unfolded as jubilant fans stormed the pitch at the Etihad Stadium and flares were lit outside pubs as City secured a sixth league title in seven seasons.
A sensational unbeaten run of 23 games extinguished Arsenal’s hopes of picking up their first Premier League title since the Gunners’ Invincible season in 2003/04 as Mikel Arteta’s side missed out by two points.

Photographers caught the moment little Ronnie Foden, 5, tried to open a champagne bottle as his father, Phil, celebrated with Manchester City teammates following their historic win on Sunday afternoon. Stay put: Despite his best effort, little Ronnie was thankfully unable to pull the cork from the bottle, though he is 13 years shy of the legal drinking age.

Ronnie was spotted earlier walking out of the tunnel with dad Phil at the start of the match against West Ham. Phil stands with girlfriend Rebecca Cooke alongside the Premier League trophy, while holding hands with Ronnie and their daughter, True. While the team hugged each other and waved to the fans in the stadium, little Ronnie, dressed in his Manchester City kit, was down on the pitch trying his best to pull the cork out.

At one point, he even pushed the bottle to the ground, but despite his best efforts, the cork stayed put – perhaps for the best given that he’s 13 years short of being able to legally drink it. Ronnie had earlier held his talented dad’s hand as Phil Foden, 23, emerged from the tunnel at the start of the exhilarating match. After the final whistle, he was seen standing proudly next to the winners’ trophy, alongside his English player father, mother Rebecca Cooke and younger sister, True.

Last month, the Manchester City midfielder and his childhood sweetheart announced they are expecting their third child together. Although aged just five, Ronnie has become something of a social media sensation, amassing a staggering four million Instagram followers – and becoming a millionaire in his own right. The eldest child of the English footballer also has a talent manager, who leads brand collaborations for the account, managed by his parents. Through his parents, the youngster has partnered with Propel Talent Group, a company that claims to manage ‘the careers of some of the UK’s most sought-after talent’, focusing on ‘digital talent.’

While some of the posts on Ronnie’s account are adorable snaps of him on the football pitch with his famous father, others are of the cute youngster on his own, posing in stylish outfits. Head and shoulders above: Ronnie is a social media sensation with four million followers and a millionaire in his own right – despite being only five. Ronnie is already nearly halfway to catching up to his father’s 9.6 million Instagram followers. Ronnie’s account, which is verified on Instagram, shows the stylish youngster posing in photos with a number of brands tagged including ethical clothing brand Little Bird and Manchester-based shop The Couture Club.

Instagram accounts with more than one million followers are considered ‘mega-influencers’ and can earn upwards of £10,000 per post for a collaboration, while big celebrity accounts can earn upwards of £1 million, according to Influencer Marketing Hub. Ronnie’s parents set up the account after a meme of the little one went viral with him dubbed ‘El Wee’ or ‘The Dude’ following Manchester City’s Champions League triumph over Inter Milan in Istanbul last June. He became an unofficial mascot for the team thanks to cute photos of him with his father on the pitch and a selfie with Erling Haaland in the dressing room.
“He just reminds me of myself when I was a kid and he’s very funny,” Foden previously told Sky Sports News.
