Red Bull claims all teams to be ‘nervous’ during first runsof2025cars

Red Bull’s performance at the beginning of the ground-effect era was extremely dominant, as they scored two consecutive championships. However, the rival teams quickly learned the ropes and are giving Milton Keynes a tough time this year. Hence, with the start of the 2025 season right around the corner, Red Bull’s Chief Engineer Paul Monaghan revealed a key point.

Ferrari and McLaren quickly rose to success during the 2024 season after Red Bull started facing massive struggles. The Austrian constructor has already toppled from the top spot and is currently in third position after Maranello. Hence, speaking about the upcoming season, Paul Monaghan pointed out that every team will be nervous before the first test in the 2025 season.

I guarantee everybody will be nervous before the first test next year. Paul Monaghan told GPblogMonaghan believes that Red Bull’s development arc depends heavily on the rival team’s performances. The team is confident in its skills and knows how much work to take on to have a great start to the season.

Following these factors, Milton Keynes will figure out how much development work needs to be done. It’s what we do relative to our opposition. We know how much work we want to take on, what we want to try and achieve, and then we’ll see how much development work we need to put into it.

However, Paul Monaghan was confident that the team wasn’t completely clueless regarding the chassis development mid-season. Moreover, Milton Keynes was aware of the work required for the 2026 chassis under the new regulation as all plans were already put in motion.

So, it’s not as if we didn’t know, even at mid-season, what we want to try and achieve with next year’s car. And next year’s car is compounded by the difficulties of the 2026 car. We know what we want to do.

At the moment, all the plans are in place. Paul Monaghan notedAdrian Newey, Max Verstappen and Helmut Marko (via IMAGO)Max Verstappen has kept up with performances this season despite the incessant struggles in performance. Despite losing the constructors’ championship, the team will take massive learnings from this season.

Hence, Red Bull is expected to come up with a much better chassis in the coming season. RELATEDMcLaren applauds Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris for achieving team’s ‘objective’ at tricky Brazilian GP
