If you’re handicapping the Juan Soto sweepstakes, the pair of New York clubs appear to be the likeliest landing spots for the superstar free agent. But don’t count on the Red Sox. MLB.

com’s Ian Browne on Monday outlined Soto being courted by Boston, which the longtime team reporter deemed “a sneaky contender” to sign the 26-year-old. Soto seemingly hasn’t ruled out the Red Sox as a potential destination, as he reportedly hasn’t yet received any offers and inquired about Boston’s offerings. Browne highlighted the storied club’s most compelling selling points, including a great fit at Fenway Park, the franchise’s history with Dominican players and the prospect of winning for years to come.

While the Yankees and/or Mets might pique Soto’s interest at a higher level, the Red Sox seem to have enough to have a legitimate conversation at the negotiating table. The four-time All-Star is widely expected to make his free agency decision before the Winter Meetings begin Dec. 9.
