Unfortunately, it debuted in the late 1990s amidst a wave of immensely popular action movies, resulting in negative reviews and commercial failure.
Despite this, the movie has since garnered a dedicated following and is considered criminally underrated.
Featuring a compelling plot, impressive special effects for its time, thrilling action sequences, and standout performances from a talented ensemble cast including Jason Scott Lee, Jason Isaacs, Connie Nielsen, Sean Pertwee, Michael Chiklis, and Gary Busey, with Kurt Russell’s performance in particular adding significant depth.
Joel McNeely’s excellent score further enhances the film’s appeal, making it another 1990s movie deserving of greater recognition.
