Travis Kelce Reveals Story Behind Buying a Racehorse Named After Taylor Swift

Travis Kelce isn’t going to fight the alchemy with Taylor Swift.

After the Kansas City Chiefs tight end purchased a racehorse named Swift Delivery with the insight from friends Bruce Zoldan and Alex Zoldan, he detailed how the dominoes cascaded in a line for yet another subtle homage to the “Karma” singer.

“When the stars align, it feels good to jump on board,” he told brother Jason Kelce during the Sept. 4 episode of New Heights. “You have really good friends that are good people who are into horse racing. They invited me to the Derby this year and I had the best time at the Derby. Sure enough, I thought, ‘Man, it would be fun to get involved and see one of your horses win a race.’”

And so when 3-year-old racehorse Swift Delivery came up, Travis cheekily admitted, “It made sense to team up on this one.”

Still, the 34-year-old assured that the horse’s name was purely a bonus.

“I like the way Swift Delivery ran,” he explained. “I’ve seen three or four races that Swift Delivery has been in and sure enough, I’ve heard nothing but great reviews.”

As he put it, “I just got on board because it was fun, and I could team up with a good friend of mine.”

News of Travis’ latest purchase circulated on social media last week, as many eagle-eyed fans couldn’t help but point out the nod to the “Fortnight” singer. In fact, even Jason joined in on the commentary with a reference to Taylor’s latest single.

“But does it have an enlarged heart,” Jason joked on X, formerly Twitter, Aug 27. “Can this horse do it with a broken heart!”

And while Travis has proven nobody has ever had Taylor like he has, she is also no stranger to supporting her man.

During the Eras Tour performer’s recent show in London earlier this month, many fans even speculated that she had made a reference to the couple’s anniversary while performing “End Game” with pal Ed Sheeran.

After delivering the line, “After the storm, something was born on the Fourth of July,” Taylor smiled and stuck out her tongue at the “Shape of You” singer.

The original line is a reference to Ed’s rekindling with his wife of five years Cherry Seaborn at Taylor’s 2015 Fourth of July bash, but Swifties took note that Taylor also ignited a chain reaction of counter moves by Travis during her smaller Independence Day party last year.

In a July 7 social media post, Taylor—who posed with other then-single pals like Selena Gomez and the Haim sisters—wrote, “Happy belated Independence Day from your local neighborhood independent girlies. See you tonight Kansas Cityyy.”

As a refresher, Travis attended Taylor’s 2023 Kansas City Eras Tour leg and attempted to shoot his shot before later detailing his temporary rejection on New Heights later that month. Just like clockwork, Taylor and Travis soon kindled a flame of their own.

“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” Taylor told TIME in December. “We started hanging out right after that.”
