8-year-old boy Kaleem in India has a strange disease that causes his hands to swell to the size of a giant. He couldn’t do seemingly simple tasks like tying shoe laces.

Mrs. Haleema, 27 years old, the boy’s mother, said that from the moment she was born, she could not do anything to help the boy. The boy’s hands grew to 33.02 cm wide, from the palm to the middle finger.

The other children were scared of the “giant hand” and Kaleem had to drop out of school. The children also bullied and threatened to beat the boy because… his hands were big.

Kaleem’s father, Mr. Shamim (45 years old), was very worried and blamed himself for not having enough money to treat his son.

Every day, Mr. Shamim has to help his child eat because his hands cannot hold small objects. With just two fingers, the simple thing he can do is hold a glass of water but still faces many difficulties.

His parents really wanted to take Kaleem to school, but the principal said he was not responsible when other children bullied him or played with his hands.

Rare disease

Dr. Ratan, director of a local hospital, said: “To my knowledge, this is a very rare disease. I have not seen a case in a medical journal or on the internet. Until this was done. Through genetic tests, we cannot accurately say about this deformity.”

Kaleem’s health is very good, his lungs and heart are working normally. But with such big hands it will affect the cardiovascular system and reduce life expectancy.

Dr Krishan Chugh, head of the pediatric department at Fortis Memorial State Institute in Gurgaon, near Delhi, was also confused after seeing pictures and videos of the boy’s hand. However, he believes, Kaleem can be treated (According to Theo Dailymail)
