Alien: Resurrection (1997) is the fourth film in the Alien franchise, directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. It follows Alien³ (1992) and continues the story of Ellen Ripley, though with significant changes to the series’ tone and direction.
PlotSet 200 years after the events of Alien³, the film reveals that Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) has been cloned by a group of scientists seeking to extract the alien embryo she was carrying before her death.
The resulting Ripley clone has the alien’s traits and abilities, and the scientists plan to use her and the alien for military purposes. However, the aliens escape containment, leading to another fight for survival.
Ripley teams up with a group of smugglers who are captured and brought aboard the spaceship Betty, and together they must confront the rapidly growing alien threat and escape the ship before it’s too late.
